Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum deny feud following offseason trade

Former Boston Celtics teammates Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have both publicly denied having a personal feud following Brown’s offseason trade to the Philadelphia 76ers. The tension surfaced after Brown responded to a video of Tatum expressing surprise at the trade with a “cap” emoji, a slang term implying dishonesty.

Speaking after a 76ers victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, Brown stated there is “no beef” between him and Tatum, though he cryptically added there might be “a little lamb chops and some gravy.” He also remarked that Tatum has a “great PR team.” Tatum addressed the situation following a Celtics win against the Knicks, rejecting comparisons to the Shaq-Kobe rivalry and expressing frustration that media narratives are focusing on drama rather than their shared championship success.

Adding to the speculation, former Celtics player and current analyst Brian Scalabrine claimed on SiriusXM that Brown had previously demanded a trade from the organization. Scalabrine later clarified his comments, suggesting the demands were primarily related to contract extensions and financial conditions rather than a formal trade request.
