Jaylen Brown discusses emotions following Celtics trade
Jaylen Brown has detailed the emotional impact of his trade from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers. In a conversation with rapper Lil Baby, the five-time All-Star described experiencing various phases, including anger, detachment, excitement, and sadness, following the move.
Brown, who spent his first ten NBA seasons in Boston after being selected third overall in 2016, noted that while he knew a trade was always a possibility, he did not expect it following a season where he achieved career highs in points, rebounds, and assists. He is scheduled to return to Boston on January 21.
During the discussion, Brown also addressed his receipt of the Bill Russell Finals MVP award. He emphasized that individual honors were not his primary driver, stating that winning the award mattered “way more to some people than it ever mattered to me.” He expressed deep respect for the legacy of Bill Russell, noting the significance of receiving an award named after a figure who faced significant adversity in Boston.
