Jaylen Brown traded to 76ers as Celtics overhaul roster
Boston sent two‑time NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in a three‑team deal that also brought Paul George and multiple first‑ and second‑round draft picks to the Celtics. The move ends the decade‑long partnership between Brown and Jayson Tatum and sets up a new intra‑conference rivalry.
Earlier in the summer, Brown was omitted from Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics. USA Basketball’s general manager Grant Hill explained the decision was driven by on‑court considerations, citing the need for a defensive guard behind Jrue Holiday and the selection of Derrick White as the preferred backup. Hill rejected claims of external pressure, calling speculation about Nike or other influences a “conspiracy theory.”
