Jaylen Waddle struggles in Denver Broncos debut against Chiefs

Jaylen Waddle had a quiet debut for the Denver Broncos in their regular-season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. After being traded from the Miami Dolphins in March, Waddle recorded just one reception for three yards, appearing largely ineffective against the Chiefs' secondary. Quarterback Bo Nix targeted the wide receiver only three times during the game.

The trade that sent Waddle to Denver involved the Broncos relinquishing a first-round and a third-round draft pick. Following the trade, the Dolphins utilized the acquired third-round pick to select wide receiver Chris Bell.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton noted that the early stages of the season provide an “unscouted look” for new players and schemes, as teams lack sufficient film to fully prepare for new personnel before Week 5 or 6. The Broncos are scheduled to face the Jacksonville Jaguars next on September 20.
