Kelowna Trivia Founder Jayson Davey Sues Buyers Over Confidential Leak Allegations

Jayson John Davey, formerly John Patrick Davy, the founder of Tremendous Trivia Night Productions in Kelowna, filed a lawsuit on May 26, 2026 against Stephen Smith, Brady Grumpelt and People Over Phones Inc. The suit alleges the defendants leaked confidential documents about Davey's criminal investigations—charges for possession of child sexual abuse material in March and July 2025—to devalue the business ahead of a planned sale.

Davey, a former Grade 6 teacher convicted in 2014 of distributing and possessing child pornography and sentenced in 2018 to 26 months in jail, claims the information was disclosed in early February 2026 despite a confidentiality agreement. The defendants filed a counterclaim on June 23, accusing Davey of breaching the principle of good‑faith performance. A letter of intent for a $350,000 purchase was later entered into, with the dispute continuing in court.
