Jazan Region Municipality expands rainwater drainage networks in Jizan
The Jazan Region Municipality has expanded its rainwater drainage networks and increased the capacity of drainage stations in Jizan to enhance infrastructure resilience against heavy rainfall. Since 2022, the network length has grown by 157%, reaching 54 kilometers. This expansion currently covers approximately 48% of the 113-kilometer target.
According to official spokesperson Dr. Ibrahim Al-Khayyat, the capacity of drainage stations has also seen significant growth, rising from 4,800 liters per second in 2022 to 18,000 liters per second across three stations in 2025 and 2026. These projects aim to accelerate rainwater drainage, prevent flooding, and maintain smooth traffic flow. The municipality's Emergency and Crisis Center continues to monitor weather conditions to ensure rapid response to incidents.
