Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s bold claim and lineup shift spark Yankees debate

Jazz Chisholm Jr. told reporters that "basically everybody" in the New York Yankees clubhouse called him the best player in the world, a statement later disputed by Yankees insider Dan Clark, who said no teammate had made such a remark. The claim came after Chisholm hit a go‑ahead home run in a 2‑1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A few days later Chisholm delivered two home runs in an 8‑5 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates, driving in five runs. Despite the performance, manager Aaron Boone moved him down the batting order from the fifth to the sixth spot. Through 95 games, Chisholm is batting .228 with 16 homers, 43 RBIs, 26 stolen bases and 51 runs, and the Yankees are 14‑1 in games where he homers. He will become a free agent after the season, though no trade rumors have emerged.
