Brazilian music programs highlight Jazz das Minas and Alma Blues

Various Brazilian musical productions and performances are scheduled across television, radio, and live venues.

On TV Brasil, the program ‘Cena Musical’ will feature the band Jazz das Minas. Directed by Ifátókí Maíra Freitas, the all-female group performs ‘Jazz de Terreiro,’ a style blending sophisticated arrangements with the ancestral traditions of Umbanda and Candomblé. The show, titled ‘Ayé Òrun,’ pays homage to Black musical icons such as Nina Simone and Elza Soares.

In radio, the program ‘Alma Blues’ is returning to Rádio Nacional and Rádio MEC for an eleven-episode season. Curated by Jussara Mendonça, the series explores blues, soul, gospel, and R&B, featuring artists like Irma Thomas and Chris Farlowe.

Live performances include a concert by pianist Eudóxia de Barros in Goiânia, featuring a mix of international classical works and Brazilian compositions. Additionally, the Casa da Ópera in Ouro Preto will host the projects ‘Desconcerto – A Terceira Margem’ and ‘Compacto Duplo,’ showcasing both educational classical-popular dialogues and original music.
