Jazz de Ría festival celebrates tenth anniversary with international lineup

The tenth anniversary of the Jazz de Ría festival is currently taking place across the Costa Ártabra region, featuring an international lineup of musicians from Cuba, Argentina, Peru, Palestine, and the United States.

To commemorate the centenary of Miles Davis, the festival includes a performance in Narón by prominent Galician jazz musicians interpreting repertoire from Davis’s legendary 1960 Olympia de París concert. Additionally, storyteller Quico Cadaval will present ‘O eco do chifre’ at the Mosteiro do Couto, a narrative piece exploring how a Galician worker’s traditional horn recording became part of a Miles Davis work.

Other scheduled performances include Sara Dowling meeting the Michael Kanan Trio at Parque do Río Freixeiro, focusing on jazz standards through voice and improvisation, as well as sets by Albert Cirera & Tres Tambors.
