Jazz festivals held in Castro and Nuoro

Several jazz festivals are underway in Italy, featuring a mix of performances, educational seminars, and jam sessions.

The fourth edition of the Castro Jazz Festival is taking place at the Castello Aragonese and Piazza Perotti. The event includes concerts, training paths, and open jam sessions. Highlights include the “Large Ensemble” concert showcasing works from the “Between Ink and Sound” residency, as well as performances by the Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra. The festival also features educational segments such as the “radio/altriSuoni Corner,” focusing on influential figures like Bud Powell and Dexter Gordon.

Meanwhile, the 38th edition of Nuoro Jazz is progressing with intensive seminars and masterclasses at the “Antonietta Chironi” Civic Music School. The program includes instrument lessons, jazz history lectures, and ensemble rehearsals. Scheduled performances include guitarist Roberto Taufic and a trio featuring singer Ada Montellanico, whose project “Radici” explores the social and cultural history of blues and jazz origins.
