Jazz festivals in France announce upcoming programs

Two French jazz festivals are preparing for their upcoming editions, both featuring tributes to the centennial of Miles Davis.

The 41st Jazzdor festival will take place from November 6 to 15. Under the new artistic direction of Vincent Bessières, the event aims to increase inclusivity through varied venues and formats. A highlight of this year's program is the ‘Marathon Miles,’ a two-day event featuring twelve European ensembles performing the works of the legendary trumpeter at the Cité de la musique et de la danse.

Meanwhile, the 29th edition of Jazz sous les bigaradiers will run from October 31 to November 10, primarily in La Gaude and Cannes. Organized by the So What association, the festival includes approximately fifteen concerts. The program features a Miles Davis photo exhibition, a saxophone history conference, and a jazz and cinema event centered on the film ‘Miles Ahead’.
