Jazz festivals in Melbourne and Wellington announce upcoming programs

Major jazz festivals in Australia and New Zealand have announced their upcoming programs.

The Melbourne International Jazz Festival will run from 16-25 October, featuring over 550 artists from 18 countries. The program includes more than 150 events across 30 venues, covering genres such as jazz, funk, soul, and hip hop. Notable performers include Dee Dee Bridgewater, Tigran Hamasyan, and The Teskey Brothers. The festival will include various free events, such as the Second Line Street Party and performances at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Wellington Jazz Festival will take place from 14-18 October. The event will feature over 100 performances across the capital city, including jazz, soul, and blues. A highlight of the program is the Aotearoa debut of American pianist Joey Alexander and the Joey Alexander Trio at The Opera House.
