Jazz festivals see engagement in St. Pölten and Stuttgart

European jazz festivals are seeing significant engagement, with notable events taking place in Austria and Germany. In St. Pölten, the ‘Jazz im Hof’ festival is scheduled from August 27 to 29 at the Stadtmuseum courtyard. Curated by saxophonist Viola Falb, the program features six concerts spanning contemporary jazz, electronic sound research, folk, and improvisational music, aiming to blend international talent with the Austrian jazz scene.

In Germany, the 32nd edition of Jazz Open Stuttgart reported record-breaking attendance, with over 75,000 visitors and a 98 percent capacity rate across its main stages. While the festival has grown to compete with major European jazz events, it has faced internal debate regarding its ‘Jazz & Beyond’ branding, following comments from pop artists like Moby and Katy Perry regarding the festival's genre diversity.
