Jazz in Maggiore festival announces final summer concerts

The 18th edition of the Jazz in Maggiore festival is entering its final phase with a series of free concerts along the shores of Lake Verbano.

On Wednesday, August 12, the Francesca Petrolo All Stars will perform in Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca. The concert serves as a tribute to jazz trombone pioneers J. J. Johnson and Marcello Rosa, blending American bebop styles with Italian musical expression.

The festival concludes on Sunday, August 16, at Casa Paolo in Brezzo di Bedero. The closing performance features the duo of harmonica player Max De Aloe and pianist Eugenia Canale. Their program will explore original compositions and jazz classics, with a specific focus on the contributions of women composers, ranging from Chiquinha Gonzaga to Carla Bley.
