Jazz Plaza International Festival to expand to Mexico and six Cuban provinces
The 42nd edition of the Jazz Plaza International Festival is scheduled to take place from January 24 to 31, 2027. Organizers announced that the event will expand its reach to six Cuban provinces—Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Santa Clara, Havana, Matanzas, and Camagüey—and will feature nearly 20 venues in the capital alone.
In a significant development, the festival will host its first international sub-venue in Mexico City. Despite facing energy shortages and economic restrictions, organizers confirmed that more than 120 American artists have already committed to participating. The upcoming edition will focus on dance and include tributes to Cuban pianist Bola de Nieve and the orchestra Chepín-Chovén.
Featured performers include Cuban jazz exponents Hernán López-Nussa, Roberto Fonseca, and Alejandro Falcón, with an opening concert by pianist Frank Fernández.
