JBL announces Cinema SB MK2 soundbar series with SurroundPlay

JBL has announced the Cinema SB MK2 soundbar series, a new range of four home cinema models scheduled for release in October 2026. The series includes the SB510MK2, SB550MK2, SB580MK2, and the flagship SB595MK2.

A key feature of the new lineup is SurroundPlay technology, which allows users to wirelessly connect compatible JBL portable speakers to act as rear surround channels. At launch, the JBL Flip 7 is the primary supported model for this function. The series also features dedicated center channels for improved dialogue clarity and supports Bluetooth and Auracast connectivity.

The models vary in power and configuration. The entry-level SB510MK2 offers 200W with an integrated subwoofer, while the flagship SB595MK2 provides 440W of power, a wireless 6.5-inch subwoofer, and a 3.1.2 channel setup with up-firing drivers for True Dolby Atmos. Other models, such as the SB580MK2, support Dolby Atmos through processing but lack physical up-firing drivers.

Additionally, JBL introduced the Cove multiroom speaker series, featuring the M1, P1, and X1 models. These systems support AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Dolby Atmos, aiming to compete in the premium multiroom market. The new soundbar designs also incorporate a foldable U-shape to reduce packaging volume by up to 20%, supporting sustainability efforts.
