JBS CEO identifies precision nutrition as the next food industry frontier
JBS Global CEO Gilberto Tomazoni has identified precision nutrition as the next frontier for the global food industry. Speaking at the Bradesco BBI Agro Summit in São Paulo, Tomazoni noted a structural shift in food consumption where protein is no longer viewed solely for satiety or muscle building, but for its amino acid profile, digestibility, and functional potential.
The executive highlighted that consumers are increasingly viewing protein as a driver of health. This trend is being accelerated by the rise of GLP-1 analog medications, which are prompting greater attention to food composition and nutritional quality.
To meet this evolving demand, JBS is investing in biotechnology, research, and development. Through JBS Biotech in Florianópolis, the company is working on processes such as hydrolysis and the identification of bioactive peptides to transform raw materials into high-value ingredients and functional products.
