JCM Power to develop 30 MW solar plant in Mozambique
Canadian company JCM Power has been selected to develop a 30-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic solar plant in Manje, located in the Tete province of Mozambique. This project marks the company’s official entry into the Mozambican market.
The project was awarded through the Renewable Energy Auction Promotion Program (Proler), an initiative supported by the European Commission and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). The program aims to encourage private sector investment to increase national renewable energy capacity, with a total goal of installing approximately 120 MW through competitive bidding.
Under the terms of the tender, JCM Power will be responsible for the financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure. The company will work in coordination with the Mozambican government and Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) to support the country’s energy transition and expand access to reliable, clean, and affordable electricity.
