JD Vance discusses 2028 ambitions and faces campaign disruptions

Vice President JD Vance has addressed speculation regarding a potential 2028 presidential run, stating he believes President Donald Trump would eventually endorse him if he seeks the office. During an interview with Mark Halperin, Vance noted that while he anticipates an endorsement, he has not yet discussed the matter with Trump and remains focused on the upcoming midterm elections. He suggested that Trump might allow a primary race to play out naturally rather than preemptively deciding on a successor.

In recent campaign activities in North Carolina, Vance faced disruptions from protesters. During a rally in Hendersonville, a man interrupted the proceedings to demand the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein. Vance responded by jokingly suggesting the individual might be an illegal immigrant, a comment that drew criticism from Democratic officials.

Separately, Donald Trump held a rally in Greenville, North Carolina, which was also interrupted by two protesters. During the incident, Trump remarked that in the past, he might have encouraged his supporters to physically confront protesters, but stated he would now prefer they be allowed to leave in peace.
