JD Vance calls for H-1B visa program reforms
Vice President JD Vance has expressed strong opposition to the H-1B visa program, describing it as “completely broken.” Vance argued that the program is being exploited by technology and accounting firms to replace American workers with lower-paid foreign labor rather than importing high-level talent.
Vance noted that while the program is intended to bring specialists into the country, it is often used to hire individuals at significantly lower salaries than their American counterparts, which he characterized as “destroying American jobs and defrauding the American people.”
The Vice President’s stance is gaining traction among conservative advocates and some Silicon Valley investors seeking compromise reforms. The H-1B program currently facilitates the entry of approximately 120,000 workers annually and supports roughly 900,000 foreign workers in U.S. roles, including spouses.
