Vance emphasized that ensuring the flow of oil and gas from Gulf states to the global economy is the administration’s top priority.

Simultaneously, the administration is facing criticism over the economic and strategic costs of the war. Reports indicate the conflict has cost approximately $30 billion, with Vance acknowledging that the United States may have underestimated Iran’s capabilities. Former President Barack Obama has criticized the strategy, characterizing the war as a costly failure for objectives he claims were unnecessary.
