JD Vance proposes childcare subsidies for stay-at-home parents

Vice President JD Vance has proposed a new approach to federal childcare subsidies. His proposal suggests opening the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) to married couples where one parent remains at home.

Under this plan, subsidies would be available to these married households but would not extend to unmarried couples or single parents who do not work. The proposal aims to address rising care costs by encouraging parents and extended family members, such as grandparents, to provide care within the home, thereby reducing the pressure on public childcare resources.
