Vice President JD Vance has repeated claims made by President Donald Trump regarding massive new investment in the United States, citing a figure of $19 trillion in new investment. However, there is no available evidence to substantiate this number.

While the White House website has previously cited $11 trillion in major investment announcements for the current presidential term, this figure is also considered an exaggeration. Previous reviews indicated that such totals often included vague pledges regarding bilateral trade or economic exchange rather than actual realized investment. In contrast, federal data shows that new foreign direct investment in the US was approximately $232 billion in 2025.

President Trump has incrementally increased his claims, moving from $17 trillion last fall to $19.2 trillion recently, and most recently suggesting the figure exceeds $20 trillion. The White House has been unable to provide corroborating evidence for these escalating totals.
