JD Vance reports $230 billion fraud identified, $56 billion halted by Trump admin

Vice President JD Vance told a Cabinet meeting at Camp David that the Trump administration’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud has uncovered about $230 billion in improper federal payments and has already stopped $56 billion from being disbursed. He said the effort, which he chairs, is a top domestic priority aimed at protecting taxpayers and preserving benefits for vulnerable program recipients.

Vance announced that the task force will unveil 17 new anti‑fraud actions worth roughly $0.33 billion, adding to the previously identified fraud. He cited a Medicaid‑funded neonatal care program as an example where fraudulent claims have deprived low‑income mothers and newborns of needed health services.
