Pentagon prepares military options for potential strikes against Iran

The U.S. Pentagon has instructed U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) to finalize preparations for the possible resumption of major combat operations against Iran. According to reports from The Atlantic and Axios, the White House has requested the development of military options that could be implemented before the U.S. midterm elections on November 3.

Proposed military strategies include short, intensive three-day campaigns targeting Iranian missile and drone arsenals, energy infrastructure, command centers, and nuclear facilities. While some administration officials suggest that limited strikes could provide a perceived military success for President Donald Trump ahead of the elections, others warn that such actions could trigger Iranian retaliation against the approximately 50,000 U.S. troops stationed in the region and lead to increased global oil prices.

President Trump has addressed the situation on Truth Social, stating that the United States will not attack Iran at any time before the November 3 midterm elections and noting that the administration is maintaining productive conversations with Tehran. However, he also expressed dissatisfaction with previous deals, suggesting that the conflict may end soon through various means.

In response to the heightened tensions, global oil markets have seen volatility, with Brent crude prices surging. Simultaneously, the U.S. continues to maintain economic pressure, including a blockade of Iranian ports and new sanctions against vessels involved in transporting Iranian petroleum.
