JD.com plans to purchase 3 million robots to boost logistics automation
At the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, JD.com revealed an ambitious plan to purchase 3 million robots, 1 million unmanned vehicles, and 100,000 drones over the next five years. The initiative aims to integrate artificial intelligence and embodied intelligence into real-world industrial scenarios, specifically targeting logistics, retail, and domestic services.
To support this transition, JD.com plans to collect over 10 million hours of high-quality human scenario video data and 1 million hours of robot operational data within two years. The company is also utilizing its JoyAI-Sim physical simulation engine to test robots in virtual environments, achieving a 90% consistency rate with real-world testing.
Additionally, JD Logistics showcased its upgraded “Wolf Clan” robot series at the CeMAT ASIA exhibition. The lineup includes the “Zhilang” robot, which utilizes a rotating picking platform and wireless power supply to increase storage efficiency by 600%, and the “Baomu Lang” robot, which offers end-to-end automation for sorting and packaging. These technologies aim to reduce reliance on manual labor in complex warehousing environments.
