JD.com unveils AI-powered intelligent food truck

JD.com’s catering brand, 7Fresh Kitchen, has debuted its first intelligent food truck, dubbed the ‘Chef Transformer,’ at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).

The AI-powered vehicle is designed to address catering challenges at large-scale events, such as sudden visitor surges and limited food variety. Equipped with three intelligent cooking robots and a smart coffee machine, the truck enables fully automated operations from order placement to robotic stir-frying without the need for on-site chefs.

To ensure food safety and quality, the system utilizes preprocessed ingredients delivered via a cold chain logistics network with full-source traceability. The truck features an open kitchen, allowing the public to observe the robotic cooking process. Following its premiere at CIFTIS, the mobile unit is expected to serve at various venues, including sports matches, music festivals, and expos.
