JDU urges Congress to support women's reservation bill

In Bihar, Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad has criticized the Congress party regarding women's empowerment. Prasad urged Congress to demonstrate seriousness by supporting the women's reservation bill.

Addressing statements by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Prasad noted that while women constitute approximately 50 percent of the population, Congress has not done sufficient work for their empowerment. He stated that under the delimitation process, the redrawing of constituencies and the creation of new areas will provide opportunities to increase female participation in both houses of Parliament.

Prasad accused Congress of attempting to obstruct this process, characterizing it as a double standard toward women's rights, and called on the party to cooperate in bringing the bill to its logical conclusion.
