JDW Sugar Mills joins Pakgen-led consortium for FESCO privatization

JDW Sugar Mills Limited has joined a consortium led by Pakgen Limited to bid for stakes in the state-owned Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO). The company disclosed its participation in the privatization process through a filing with the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

The expanded consortium now includes 10 companies from various industrial, energy, and manufacturing sectors, such as Nishat Mills Limited, Kohinoor Energy Limited, and Pak Elektron Limited. The group aims to participate in the Request for Statement of Qualification issued by the Privatisation Commission.

FESCO is one of three electricity distribution companies in the first phase of Pakistan’s power-sector privatization program. The Privatisation Commission has received 12 Expressions of Interest from domestic and international investors, including entities from China and Türkiye, seeking to acquire between 51% and 100% ownership and management control.
