Jean Alain Rodríguez defense seeks dismissal of corruption charges
The legal defense for former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez is calling for the extinction of criminal proceedings against him, citing the expiration of the legal four-year limit for administrative corruption cases. Defense attorneys argue that nearly six years have passed without judicial decisions attributing delays to Rodríguez, instead claiming that the state caused the postponements through prolonged investigations, requests for extensions, and technical issues with evidence.
The defense noted that various legal groups, including the Washington-based World Association of Jurists and several Dominican legal associations representing over 10,000 lawyers, support the claim for due process. They contend that the massive scale of the case, including an indictment exceeding 12,000 pages, has hindered progress.
