Jean-Claude Van Damme celebrates 66th birthday

Belgian actor Jean-Claude Van Damme celebrates his 66th birthday. Born Jean-Claude Camille François Van Varenberg in Brussels on October 18, 1960, he rose to become one of the most recognizable action stars of the late 20th century.

His physical style, characterized by splits and martial arts precision, was shaped by his background in karate, kickboxing, and bodybuilding, as well as five years of classical ballet training which provided him with essential balance and flexibility. After moving to the United States in 1982, he worked various jobs, including waiter and taxi driver, before entering film.

His breakout role came in the 1988 film ‘Bloodsport’, followed by major successes such as ‘Kickboxer’ (1989), ‘Double Impact’ (1991), and ‘Universal Soldier’ (1992). His largest commercial triumph was the 1994 film ‘Timecop’, which earned approximately $100 million.
