Jean Ernest Muscadin faces criticism over governance skills

Former colonel Himler Rébu has criticized presidential candidate Jean Ernest Muscadin, questioning his ability to govern beyond security matters. During a press meeting on October 5, Rébu stated, “After killing people, I do not know if he has other skills.”

Muscadin, known for his firm stance against armed groups in the Nippes department, is running under the Fòs Nasyonal Chanjman (FNC) banner. While his supporters highlight his record in restoring state authority and fighting gang violence, critics argue he must demonstrate competence in areas such as the economy, justice, education, and health to lead the nation.

Jean Gardy Forge, deputy secretary general of the FNC, defended Muscadin on Scoop FM, questioning Rébu’s own qualifications and accusing the former minister of engaging in “family corruption” during his previous tenure. The controversy highlights the growing debate over whether Muscadin’s security-focused profile is sufficient for the upcoming presidential campaign.
