Jean-Luc Mélenchon adopts discreet presidential campaign strategy

Jean-Luc Mélenchon is pursuing a discreet presidential campaign strategy, focusing on detailed programmatic speeches rather than traditional media appearances or public rallies. According to LFI national coordinator Manuel Bompard, the approach is intended to be instructive and pedagogical, helping voters understand complex issues such as national debt and purchasing power.

Unlike other candidates, Mélenchon avoids standard morning television slots and continuous news interviews. Instead, he utilizes the party's expanded parliamentary presence—growing from 17 to 71 deputies since the 2022 election—to have various party officials represent the movement in the media. This strategy allows the movement to occupy political space through its lieutenants while Mélenchon maintains a more elevated position. Following a series of recent meetings, his schedule is expected to remain quiet through early autumn, with a major meeting scheduled for October in Clermont-Ferrand.
