Jean-Paul Sartre's drama performed at Barski Ljetopis

As part of the 39th Barski Ljetopis theater program, the play ‘Dirty Hands’ was performed on the summer stage of the Dom kulture. Produced by the Tivat Cultural Center and directed by Jug Radivojević, the production is based on the 1948 political drama by French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre.

The play explores existentialist themes of freedom, responsibility, and ethics, examining whether personal morality can be maintained amidst political struggle. The production utilized a minimalist approach, intentionally omitting scenery and props to encourage deeper internal acting from the cast.

Lead actors Lazar Đurđević and Miloš Biković discussed the challenges of the demanding material and the unique experience of performing in an open-air setting. Đurđević noted the relevance of Sartre’s themes regarding how young people can be led astray by dangerous ideologies.
