Jean-Pierre Jeunet film 'Violette' premieres at Rome Film Fest

Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, known for 'Amélie', has presented his new film, 'Cambiare l’acqua ai fiori' (international title: 'Violette'), at the 21st Rome Film Fest. The film is a French-Italian co-production based on the international bestselling novel by Valérie Perrin.

Set in a Burgundy cemetery, the story follows Violette Toussaint, played by Leïla Bekhti, a caretaker who provides comfort to visitors. Her life changes when a policeman, Julien Seul, arrives to deposit his mother's ashes, prompting an investigation into Violette's past and the mysterious disappearance of her husband. The cast includes Sergio Castellitto, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Melvil Poupaud.

The film is scheduled for release in French cinemas on December 9, 2026, and will arrive in Italian theaters on January 5, 2027, distributed by Lucky Red.
