Jeanie Buss legal battle over Lakers ownership sale rescheduled

A court hearing regarding the Los Angeles Lakers' ownership structure has been rescheduled to December 8. Jeanie Buss, the current Lakers governor, filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court to block her five siblings from selling the family trust's remaining 17.8% minority stake in the franchise.

The sale would transfer the family's shares to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, who are set to become majority owners following a deal with Mark Walter. The transaction values the Lakers at $12.5 billion. Jeanie Buss has contested the move, alleging in a 97-page petition that her siblings orchestrated the deal secretly without her consultation.

Buss argues that the sale would force her out of her role as governor, as NBA regulations require a minimum of 15% ownership to hold that position. Her legal team requested the continuance because lead counsel Adam Streisand is scheduled for speaking engagements in Europe and will not return to Los Angeles until mid-November.
