Jeanie Buss sues siblings over alleged Lakers ownership plot

Los Angeles Lakers governor Jeanie Buss has filed a lawsuit against her five siblings, accusing them of a secretive conspiracy to remove her from her leadership position. According to court filings, Buss alleges her siblings orchestrated a “cloak and dagger” operation to undermine her authority and pressure her into accepting a sale of the family’s remaining ownership stake.

The dispute involves the potential sale of the Buss family’s 17.82 percent stake in the franchise to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner. Buss argues that the siblings’ actions violate the terms of the family trust established by their late father, Jerry Buss, and aim to reduce her participation to less than 15 percent, thereby compromising her status as the controlling owner.

Buss’s legal team characterized the maneuver as a “false flag operation,” claiming siblings shared information with the media and conducted private votes to make it appear she was obstructing legitimate business. The siblings have rejected these allegations, maintaining that their actions are permitted under the family trust and accusing Jeanie of prioritizing her position over financial interests.
