Jeans theft after trailer overturn on Mexico‑Tulancingo highway

On 4 August 2026 a heavy‑load trailer carrying thousands of denim jeans overturned on the Mexico‑Tulancingo highway near the municipality of Axapusco, State of Mexico. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics. The impact opened the trailer’s cargo box, scattering the clothing across the roadway and shoulder.

Within minutes, dozens of motorists and local residents arrived at the scene and seized hundreds of jeans before the National Guard, state police and emergency services could secure the area. The theft delayed traffic for several hours as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and restore the lane.
