Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement declares August 14 ‘Black Day’

The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) has declared August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day, as a ‘Black Day’. JSFM Chairman Sohail Abro characterized the occasion as a ‘day of slavery’ for several communities, including Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtun, Saraiki, Kashmiri, and Gilgit-Baltistani peoples.

To mark the protest, JSFM announced that members will wear black armbands and hoist black flags at various intersections across Sindh. Abro alleged that these nationalities face political, economic, and geographical marginalization by the Pakistani state and its military establishment. He further claimed that national resources and lands are being occupied and called for the right to self-determination.

Additionally, the JSFM chairman alleged that state agencies are conducting raids on the homes of pro-independence activists and that abductions and enforced disappearances of political workers are continuing in Sindh. The organization has called upon international bodies, including the United Nations and Amnesty International, to support their cause for freedom.
