49ers owner Jed York suspended six games and fined $500,000

The NFL has suspended San Francisco 49ers principal owner Jed York for six games and fined him $500,000 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. The disciplinary action follows York’s arrest in August during an undercover prostitution sting in East Palestine, Ohio.

York originally faced charges related to engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools. He subsequently pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools. As part of his legal resolution, York paid a $1,150 fine and received a one-day jail sentence, for which he received credit for time served. Additionally, $160 seized during the operation was donated to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

The NFL has credited York with serving three games of his suspension due to his absence from the 49ers and league meetings during the initial investigation. He is eligible to return to his duties on October 20. In a public statement, York accepted the decision, calling the incident an ‘inexcusable mistake’ and apologizing to his family, the team, and the fans.
