Jeddah Islamic Port to expand with new $426m+ container terminal

Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) and the French shipping group CMA CGM have signed agreements to develop and operate the fourth container terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia. The investment, estimated between $426.5 million and $434 million, aims to add an annual capacity of up to 2.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

The project, supported by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), will include the construction of new deep-water berths capable of accommodating the world’s largest container ships, along with advanced terminal equipment and new ship-to-shore cranes. This expansion is intended to strengthen Jeddah’s position on major east-west shipping routes and enhance the efficiency of global supply chains.

Separately, DP World reported that its South Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port achieved its highest monthly throughput since operations began in 1999, handling over 221,200 TEUs in July 2026. This growth follows a recovery in Red Sea shipping activity and recent investments in terminal capacity and infrastructure.
