Jeddah ophthalmology conference concludes with focus on research and early diagnosis
The first international conference of the Saudi Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Society has concluded in Jeddah. The three-day event featured 40 speakers from around the world and attracted over 1,400 attendees.
The conference focused on advancing scientific research through local and multi-center studies to better reflect the needs of patients in Saudi Arabia. Key recommendations included enhancing continuous medical education, developing specialized training programs, and fostering international scientific cooperation between Saudi specialists and global experts.
Scientific sessions and workshops addressed several critical areas, including: • Innovations in cataract surgery and intraocular lens calculations. • Advancements in vision correction technologies and refractive surgery. • The application of artificial intelligence in calculating lens power. • Management of dry eye disease, ocular surface disorders, and eyelid gland dysfunction. • Pediatric eye allergies and inflammations.
The event also included a medical exhibition showcasing diagnostic devices, surgical tools, and new pharmacological developments in ophthalmology.
