Jeep considers reviving iconic Willys military vehicle as compact SUV
Jeep is exploring the development of a compact off-road SUV inspired by the historic Willys military vehicle. Xavier Peugeot, the newly appointed Head of Jeep Europe, discussed the possibility of a Willys revival during the Paris Motor Show.
The project is currently in the concept research stage, with no finalized designs, technical specifications, or official launch dates. Jeep expects to clarify the development direction for the model by 2030, potentially coinciding with the arrival of a new generation of the Renegade.
If commercialized, the new SUV could be introduced in the European market after 2030. The vehicle may utilize the Stellantis STLA One platform, allowing for various powertrain options. Peugeot noted that the brand aims to address the growing demand for compact, sustainable vehicles suitable for both urban environments and weekend excursions, while maintaining the brand's signature four-wheel-drive capabilities.
