Jeferson Rocha campaigns for Senate in Santa Catarina

Jeferson Rocha, a 44-year-old lawyer and rural producer, is running for a Senate seat in Santa Catarina representing the PRD (Partido Renovação Democrática). A native of Lages, Rocha is participating in his third election, having previously run for state deputy in 2018 and for the Chamber of Deputies in 2022.

His platform focuses heavily on the agribusiness sector. Key proposals include renegotiating debts for rural producers, increasing crop protection against climate events, and incentivizing the domestic industrialization of agricultural products. Rocha also advocates for a significant shift in tax distribution, proposing that 90% of taxes collected by the Union remain in the states where they were generated, with only 10% going to the federal government. Additionally, he supports maintaining coal exploitation in southern Santa Catarina, provided there are measures to compensate for emissions.

Rocha declared assets totaling R$ 14.04 million to the Electoral Court, including agricultural machinery, vehicles, financial investments, and business holdings.
