Jeff Bezos climbs to second richest person as Blue Origin valuation rises
Jeff Bezos has reclaimed his position as the second richest person in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with his fortune rising to approximately $365 billion to $368.5 billion. This surge follows optimism regarding the future of his aerospace company, Blue Origin.
Blue Origin recently secured $10 billion in external funding from investors including Coatue Management, bringing the company's valuation to between $130 billion and $140 billion. Bezos maintains a 93% stake in the firm. The increase in wealth comes as Bezos signaled his intention to eventually take Blue Origin public through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), stating that it will likely make sense to become a listed company in a few years.
With this growth, Bezos has surpassed Alphabet co-founder Larry Page, who now ranks third. Elon Musk remains at the top of the billionaire rankings with a fortune exceeding $1 trillion, driven by his own space and technology ventures.
