Jeff Bezos forecasts AI-fueled job growth while publishing warns of content commoditisation

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, told the Financial Times that artificial intelligence will usher “multiple golden ages” rather than wipe out jobs. He cited his $41 billion Prometheus AI lab, which aims to apply AI to manufacturing, engineering and other Amazon businesses, and argued that AI will be a positive force across his enterprises.

In a separate discussion, Marcelo Santos, an information‑economics professor, warned that big‑tech deals could turn journalism into a commodity. He explained that AI platforms extract original news content and use it as free data to train conversational models, diminishing the value of publishers’ brands. Santos cautioned against individual licensing agreements with firms such as OpenAI, saying they may provide short‑term revenue but ultimately erode the long‑term worth of news organisations.
