Jeff Bezos sells Washington mansion for record $63 million
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has sold his Hunts Point, Washington, mansion for $63 million, marking the most expensive residential sale in the state's history. The sale occurred in the spring of 2025, following his move to Miami with his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos.
The transaction follows Washington state's implementation of a new 9.9% tax on household income exceeding $1 million, a law signed by Governor Bob Ferguson. This measure, the state's first income tax in over 90 years, is scheduled to begin in 2028. The tax's future remains uncertain, as Initiative 645 will appear on the November 3 ballot, proposing to repeal the tax and prohibit future state income taxes. Additionally, a legal challenge regarding the tax's constitutionality is currently pending.
Bezos, whose wealth is estimated at $365 billion, now resides in a $237 million property compound on Indian Creek in Miami, a location known as the ‘Billionaire Bunker.’ Florida currently maintains no state income tax.
