Jeff Cobb addresses NJPW departure and upcoming match with Callum Newman

Professional wrestler Jeff Cobb has addressed the circumstances surrounding his departure from New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in April 2025. In a recent interview, Cobb clarified that while he had intended to complete the Wrestling Dontaku 2025 tour, contractual obligations with WWE forced him to leave the promotion prematurely.

Cobb also commented on his ongoing rivalry with Callum Newman. He suggested that Newman’s frustrations are partly due to Will Ospreay bringing the younger talent into the group. Cobb noted that his sudden departure may have inadvertently cleared a path for Newman to potentially become the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

The tension between the two is set to culminate at NJPW Destruction in Kobe, where Cobb and Newman are scheduled to face each other.
