Jeff Daniels to star in AMC and Netflix series ‘Bannerman’
Emmy winner Jeff Daniels has been cast as the lead in ‘Bannerman’, an upcoming drama series from AMC Studios. The project marks the first series produced under a co-production agreement between AMC Studios and Netflix.
Based on the spy novels by John R. Maxim, the series follows Paul Bannerman, a covert operative who attempts to lead a group of elite assassins into a quiet life in the Connecticut suburbs. The plot involves old enemies, government paranoia, and the interference of an unrelenting ex-cop.
Daniels will portray Raymond Lesko, a former NYPD detective working in hotel security after being dismissed for seeking vengeance for a murdered partner. Lesko is drawn back into action when he discovers his daughter is dating a potentially dangerous individual.
The series is developed by Shane Black and Craig Silverstein. Black co-wrote the first episode and will direct the first two episodes. The show will premiere on AMC in the United States and Canada, with Netflix providing a second window 90 days after the AMC season finale. In Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, both platforms will debut episodes jointly, while Netflix will hold exclusive rights in the rest of the world.
