Palazzo Reale hosts Jeff Koons tribute exhibition in Palermo

The Palazzo Reale in Palermo is hosting the ‘Jeff Koons Tribute’ exhibition, marking the artist’s first appearance in Sicily. Organized by the Fondazione Federico II in collaboration with Weng Contemporary from Switzerland and the French porcelain maison Bernardaud, the exhibition features 15 works, including prototypes and limited mid-size editions.

The collection includes pieces from the famous ‘Celebration’ series, such as ‘Balloon Dog Blue’, ‘Diamonds’, ‘Seated Ballerina’, and ‘Lobster’. The works utilize various materials including porcelain, chrome, enamel, and wood. The exhibition is scheduled to run until January 11, with visiting days from Thursday to Monday.

Jeff Koons is recognized as one of the world’s highest-paid living artists, notably having a sculpture sold by Christie’s for $91.1 million. His work is characterized by a contrast between playful, recognizable subjects and highly sophisticated, high-value execution, exploring themes of consumerism and the boundaries between art and mass culture.
